There’s a new book in the market by Malcolm Gladwell that talks about how little things can make a big difference. Of course, they do. Little things we do accumulate in a long term either as Karma or habit and express themselves in our lives and relations in a long term.
A little meditation everyday can bring tremendous peace in our life. A little witnessing of everything going on inside us can be of great value in a long term. A little friendliness, a little practicing of honesty, a little of practicing selfless service can change a person’s mind and intellect forever. Little actions like that can purify even a most heinous sinner in a short period.
On the path to self-realization, the highest aim of life, every little we make accumulates in uniting us with the Cosmos. All the prayers, meditations, service to the humanity and charity gradually eliminate all the false ideas we have accumulated over the years.
Everything in the entire existence is connected and our actions directly impact the entire cosmos in bring the divine plan to come to pass. Our body, mind and intellect are mere instruments of the existence to experience itself. So, the more we co-operate with it and spontaneously do every little things that come through, the higher law can work through us to bring about the cosmic order.
Just like the repeated thrusts of water stream can even disintegrate the big rocks and boulders, similarly, little acts can bring about a massive accumulation of strength to bring about a radical change in an individual, society and the world at large. Few examples of little endeavors like that were that of Mahatma Gandhi and at the present moment Dalai Lama is a good example of creating tremendous influence through little acts of compassion and integrity.
