“Messi, the man at Barssa” is going to be screened in the United states. Organized by Nepal America International Film Festival (NAIFF) to be held from May 5th through May 7th, 2017 in the greater Washington, DC Metropolitan area (University of Marry Land) and Deepak Rauniyar’s film “Seto Surya” will be released in college park. Festival organizers said “preparations are in the final stages”. Nepali Diaspora Film festival to be held in the United States for the first time. After, the release of “Seto Surya”, there will be an interaction between Deepak Rauniyar and Asha Magrati.
After 7Pm, the Nepali Movie “Kalo Pothi” will be screened in the silver theater. Next, director, Min Bahadur Bahrain will interact with the public. This year, the jury headed by director Nabin Subba and award winning films selected by a jury of cooperation as well as organizers will honor all supporters.
“Messi, the man at Barssa”- The documentary is all about the spanish club Barcelona, and its star soccer player Leonel Messi, which is directed and produced by renowned journalist Kiran Marhattha. The documentary is composed in three different languages, English, Spanish and Katlaan and its time length is 30 minutes.
Nepali journalist Kiran Marahatta arranged this meeting with Leo Messi to Neymar. The Barcelona club invited him as a top journalist from Nepal to make a documentary. Kiran had made difficult tasks like making documentaries to taking Nepal to the world famous athletes. Kiran says “Thinking of those moments, I believe that our lives have become successful.” Messi is a really great player. He spent his 10 precious minutes for the interview. Kiran Marhatta is the first South Asian Journalist to interview Messi. He stayed 11 days at the Barcelona Football Club.
Kiran says, according to their schedule, I had to finish everything within 11 days. They were ready to bear my expenses for this. After a wait of three hours, Messi entered the room. I was speechless for a while. I couldn’t believe that he was in front of me. Then he said, “How are you?” I gifted him a Nepali Dhaka Topi (Cap). He looked at the cap carefully. “Thank you Nepal. This is the most unique gift from Nepal. I will keep this very safe,” he said.
When discussing about Nepal, Messi remembered Mt. Everest. Kiran Marahatta acted as a bridge in strengthening the relationship between Barcelona and Nepal. Messi is himself great, but will rise up like the Everest. Always standing tall and strong.
