Get a sense things are getting crazier when you hear the news? Everybody seems to be doing what they want as long as they can get away with it. It’s not about what is right but what anybody can do under the circumstances saying, ‘It is what it is’. That might be okay with some people but I don’t think everybody will be satisfied with the outcome. And as people get their hands on better technology and better understanding about the human body, worship of self continues.
Is it fair some people can have millions and billions while another can be on the street with nothing just down the block? We pass by human beings every day. Some could give a quarter but I’ve seen someone say they don’t have any, right to their face. I once saw someone on television asking if there is free food being given on church ground. What if church gave out food to the homeless? Could you give a little to those who have nothing?
I can see the flip side of that. The very same people who had very little can be very different when they get something. I’m not saying I’m immune. I’ve done the same thing myself. Some treat others as if they were less than human. I’ve been on the receiving end of such treatment myself. It stings. It hurts. That happened in a church once.
No matter what I might hear at church, I go by what I read in the Bible. What I read in there has kept me through times when I was feeling down. From what I read in the Bible and people who stay true to what it says, things will only get worse. There will be more natural disasters and financial downturn, church persecuting the true believers of Christ.
The Bible talks about people caring more about the self as we go further in history even into the end time if you can assume that there will be an end to humans. The Bible talks about love of money. How can you care for the self without money? Everybody needs money. What do you care about the most? We all care about the self the most.
The Bible says to choose between the self and God. You cannot worship God and money. You cannot love and enjoy the things of this world and expect to go through the narrow and strait gates of heaven. Jesus says to deny yourself, take up your own cross, and follow after him all the way to your own crucifixion. Then you will be rewarded in heaven. The life of Jesus is the blueprint for anyone who truly wants to follow in his footstep.
What do you want? What this world has to offer? What about what God offers through the hands of Jesus? If you are not certain what the Bible offers, how about reading it for yourself to find out? The Bible does not paint a pretty picture. I’ve heard people say that they have read the Bible and that what they read is not conducive to modern living. I agree with that assessment. What the Bible says is that life will be even more difficult for those who follow in the footstep of Jesus than those who do not. Those who do follow Jesus all the way to the finish however, will be rewarded in heaven.
